The vision of the Holyoke Public Schools (HPS) is to provide our students with technology rich learning environments, helping them to achieve their fullest potential in a surrounding conducive to responsible, effective teaching and learning. Accessing and manipulating information using technology will create a learning climate where self-directed learning and collaboration become part of everyday life for the students of the HPS. Students will use the technology to work through complex and comprehensive materials developing lifelong learning and problem solving skills. The administration, school committee, and staff of the HPS make it their mission to provide the children of Holyoke with up-to-date educational technology.
It is the vision of the HPS to immerse all students, through technology, in learning as a lifelong process.

| Student Technology Standards |
These proposed standards (draft form at this point) are what the state Department of Educaction expects K-12 students to know and be able to do in order to use technology for learning. Some of the expectations are quite ambitious (A kindergarten student should "master" the ability to recognize and name the major components of a computer and understand their basic functions). |
