Construction crews have taken down more than 50% of the former Peck School in preparation for construction of a new middle school that will serve approximately 550 students in grades 6-8 when completed.
The demolition work has been proceeding mostly as planned, although the contractor did find additional asbestos-containing materials, which may cause a slight temporary delay while the materials are separated for disposal. The overall schedule for the project should not be affected; demolition work is still expected to be completed in December.
Meanwhile, construction documents for the new school are nearing completion and should be available for public bid in the next few weeks.
