As the new Peck Middle School comes closer and closer to opening for students this year, it’s time to finalize one of the most fun aspects of the new school: The new logo!
Students at Donahue, Lawrence, Morgan, Metcalf, and STEM Academy who are currently in grades 4-7 are eligible to participate in a logo design contest, with submissions due January 29. A committee made up of art teachers and members of the HPS communication team will review the submissions and then narrow them down to five finalists, with one entry from each school. The final design concept will be determined by early March.
The winning student logo concept will be used to create the school’s official logo, which will be used in print, online, on shirts and hoodies, and more. The student designer will receive a sweatshirt with their logo and an invitation to the official ribbon cutting ceremony, anticipated for fall 2025.
Participants should keep the following elements in mind as they work on their designs:
School name: William R. Peck Middle School (or “Peck School” for short)
Mascot: Phoenix (a mythical bird that rises from the ashes)
Colors: Red and black (similar to the colors used by the STEM Beats music group)
Eligible students should submit their designs to their school’s art teacher by January 29. The key contact for each school is:
Donahue School: Lora Talbot
Lawrence School: Taylor Crisostomo
Morgan School: Susan Flores
Metcalf School: Kelsi Giguere
STEM Academy: Aaron DiPilla or Maya Powe
Submissions may also be sent directly to the HPS communications team.
