Students in grades PreK-8 are encouraged to read for at least 20 minutes every day from July 3 to August 4 as part of a city-wide summer reading challenge organized by Holyoke Public Schools and Holyoke Public Library.
The summer reading challenge includes recommended reading lists in English and Spanish for each grade level to assist students in selecting books.
Students will need to record their reading minutes in a daily reading log, which must be returned to their schools by Friday, September 8 if students want to have a chance to win prizes. As an incentive, one student from each grade level district-wide who reads the most minutes will receive a tablet as a prize.
Holyoke Public Schools is partnering with Holyoke Public Library to offer the 2023 Holyoke Public Schools Summer Reading Challenge, an engaging initiative aimed at promoting good reading habits among students over the summer break.
