Holyoke community members got a first-hand look at what Holyoke Public School’s new food truck has to offer as Sodexo staff served up free meals for children and teens as part of Holyoke’s Summer Eats program.
The truck made scheduled stops every weekday at five community locations this summer to provide free nutritious meals to everyone ages 18 and under through our “Summer Eats” program.
HPS was able to purchase the food truck last year using grant funding the district received from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs to help address food insecurity issues in the community. The food truck will also be used during the school year to distribute meals through other initiatives.
Holyoke Public Schools contracts with Sodexo to provide school meals. Sodexo staffs the district’s Food Service Department with more than 60 full and part-time employees who are based in 11 different Holyoke school sites.
