Holyoke Public Schools offers a variety of educational summer opportunities for district elementary, middle, and high school students. Registration is open now for summer learning programs and will remain open until the programs are filled. Families are encouraged to enroll as soon as possible.
Summer opportunities at HPS are split into three main programs:
Summer Learning Academies are multi-week programs for rising K-8 students that begin the week of July 8, with an emphasis on core curriculum. Core classes are combined with social-emotional learning, enrichments, raffles, and team-building activities. Meals are provided to all, and transportation is available within district transportation guidelines. Enroll now; deadline to apply is 6/3.
Credit-recovery summer learning programs for high school students:
For HHS North and Dean students: Holyoke High School North is offering a Summer School Academy for students from both the North and Dean campuses who wish to recover credits for up to two courses—and possibly buy back attendance. The program runs from 9 a.m. to 12:05 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays from July 8-August 1 at HHS North. Breakfasts and lunches will be provided to participating students. Note: Dean students will need to coordinate enrollment with the Dean guidance office. Interested North students should submit a registration form as soon as possible. For more information, send an email to Summer School Director Mark Rodrigues.
For OA students: The Learning Lab at Opportunity Academy will be open from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays from July 8-August 1 for currently enrolled OA students who wish to work on credit recovery.
Extended School Year offers a fun and educational experience for rising PreK-12 students with a qualifying IEP. Academics, social skills, and communication skills are at the center of the curriculum, with opportunities for inclusion alongside the Summer Learning Academies. Check your child’s IEP or reach out to your school’s special education team to learn what your child is eligible for.
