Under a clear blue sky, 250 seniors became Holyoke High School’s newest alumni during a graduation ceremony held outdoors on the football field.
Student speakers included Salutatorian Ava Tellier, Valedictorian Rebecca Romero, and Perseverance Speaker Tatiana Restrepo, with additional remarks by Mayor Joshua Garcia, Superintendent Anthony Soto, and Principal Lori McKenna.
The high school music department supported the ceremony from beginning to end, with the band and orchestra performing the traditional graduation processional “Pomp and Circumstance,” the choir and madrigal singing patriotic tunes, with the four groups coming together for the recessional “Hail! Holyoke High School.”
Of the students recognized during the ceremony, 36 graduated with Honors and 39 graduated with High Honors. In addition, 20 graduates are members of the National Honor Society, 11 have obtained the Seal of Biliteracy, and 68 have already begun college courses through the Early College program.
