NEW BUS TRACKING APP

Holyoke Public Schools has completed its switchover to the My Ride K-12 bus-tracking software, which was first introduced in the district last spring as part of a transitional phase in. Families are encouraged to learn more about how to use the software and to download the app to their Apple or Android devices prior to the start of the school year. Web access is also available for those who prefer not to use a separate app.

“My Ride K-12 makes it easier for families to ensure that their children catch their bus to school each day, and it also allows two-way messaging between families and our transportation team,” explained HPS Director of Enrollment Services and Transportation Rebecca Lamb. “The software allows families and students to access their own secure data for bus stop locations, their full bus route, and pickup times without having to call the transportation department. Users can see where their bus is at any given time, give or take a 30-second to one-minute lag time.”

Having access to that information offers convenience while reducing the number of phone calls needed between the transportation team and families, she explained.

“If a family member or student needs to be in touch with the transportation team—or if we need to be in touch with them—the My Ride K-12 software offers two-way messaging that will speed up communication and help ensure timely responses,” said Ms. Lamb.

HPS no longer uses the Durham Bus Tracker software, and families are encouraged to delete that app from their devices.
