Holyoke Public Schools will release students one hour early on Wednesdays beginning this week as part of a pilot for the 2024-25 school year.
This change is intended to better support teacher development and ultimately improve teacher retention. Early-release Wednesdays will affect all programs EXCEPT Opportunity Academy, which will continue to follow its regular schedule for students and staff this school year.
Five schools will release students at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, including:
McMahon Elementary
Metcalf Middle School
Holyoke STEM Academy
Holyoke High School North Campus and
Holyoke High School Dean Tech Campus
Six schools will release students at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, including:
Donahue
E.N. White
Kelly
Lawrence and
Morgan Elementary Schools and
Sullivan Middle School
Transitions Academy will release students at 1:20 p.m.
Families are encouraged to speak with their children’s school or afterschool program if they need support for these early-release Wednesdays.
