This morning, a sixth-grade student was hit by a car on Main Street while walking to school. The student has been transported to an area hospital, where they are being treated for serious injuries.
“We are taking steps to provide support for the student, their family, and our community as a whole,” said Superintendent Anthony Soto. “This morning, Mayor Joshua Garcia, Ward 2 City Councilor Carmen Ocasio, and I spent time with the family at the hospital, providing support and making sure they know the community is here with them. We are also providing support to our students and staff to ensure they have the resources they need at this difficult time.”
“The accident is under investigation,” Mayor Garcia said. “We ask our community to respect the family’s privacy and also not to speculate publicly or privately about the circumstances of this incident. Doing so is both disrespectful and contributes to widespread sharing of misinformation.”
