Three students from McMahon School were among the eight students named as winners in the district’s 2023 Summer Reading Challenge for logging the most time reading this summer among all participants at each of their grade levels. The McMahon winners include:
Second-grader Jasper Merola who read 21 books this summer, some of which were longer chapter books
Third-grader Michaela West who logged 1,260 minutes of summer reading time
Fourth-grader Mason Lelemelin who logged 2,318 minutes of reading time this summer
Combined, the eight winners logged more than 200 hours, which paid off for them in several ways: They enjoyed the books they read and helped maintain their reading skills over the summer, and they also will be awarded a tablet to take home and use as they please. Their teachers hope they will use the devices to keep on reading!
