Superintendent Anthony Soto recently surprised McMahon first-grader Grace Noonan and Sullivan eighth-grade English teacher Megan Faragher when he arrived in their classrooms to present them with Superintendent’s Excellence Awards.
Grace was nominated by her first grade teacher Julia Miele. “Grace is a kind, persistent, brave, and wonderful student,” Ms. Miele said when nominating Grace for this recognition. “She is always putting her best foot forward and reflecting on how to become a better student. She is a good friend and treats others the way she wishes to be treated. She always lends a helping hand and does what is right. She is the first to follow a direction and get on task. She loves challenges and is always eager to learn more, become a better student. She is adored by all staff and classmates. Grace is amazing.”
Mrs. Faragher was nominated for this recognition by Sullivan Expert Teacher/Coach Lindsay Slabich for her skills as a teacher, team player, and love for her students. “Megan is an amazing teacher and colleague,” Ms. Slabich said. “She goes above and beyond to be a team player. Meg loves students. This is evident in her firmness, in her playfulness, and in her tears when she sees a piece of student work and wants to do better both pushing and supporting the student. Meg builds strong relationships with kids and families and fights for what students need. Our students are so lucky to have her as a teacher and advocate.”
