Holyoke is moving closer to selecting a name, mascot, and school colors for the new middle school now under construction, thanks to feedback provided by 1,859 students, family members, staff, and community members who completed a recent survey.
Survey findings related to the name for the new middle school will be reviewed by the Holyoke School Committee’s leadership and accountability subcommittee during their meeting on Wednesday, November 20. Their recommendation for the school name will then be shared with the full HPS School Committee and City Council. The district’s leadership team will host a separate meeting to review survey results for the school mascot and colors. Final decisions on the name, mascot, and colors are anticipated in January 2025.
Construction of the new middle school is moving along steadily, with the building expected to open in fall 2025 for approximately 550 students in grades 6-8.
