Holyoke Public Schools and the Holyoke Public Library are partnering together to launch the first annual “Rocket Into Reading” early literacy event on Thursday, May 15 from 5-7 p.m. at the Holyoke Library, 250 Chestnut St.
Students in kindergarten through second grade are invited to sign up for their library card, and enjoy a night of literacy activities, story time, and crafts in both English and Spanish. Parents will learn a variety of strategies that support reading with their child, while also learning more about the library’s offerings. Pizza will be served, and each student will receive a gift bag with a free book for attending the event.
Applications for library cards were sent home with K-2 students last week and should be returned to your child’s regular classroom teacher as soon as possible to assure that the card will be ready during the event.
Students must be accompanied by an adult to attend the event. Reach out to your school’s FACE coordinator for more information.
