Job seekers speak with HPS staff at recruiting event

Holyoke Public Schools is actively recruiting to fill a wide range of teaching and support staff positions throughout the district.

“For job seekers looking for rewarding career opportunities in a diverse and supportive workplace, we encourage you to look into all that Holyoke Public Schools has to offer its employees,” said HPS Director of Recruitment Christie Elman. “My colleague Maria Borras and I met with potential candidates at the job fair at Holyoke Mall last week, and we are pleased that many will be moving forward with the application process. However, we continue to recruit for open positions, and now is a great time for people interested in new employment to consider working for Holyoke Public Schools.”

Potential employees who are considering applying for open paraprofessional positions should keep in mind that HPS supports and provides pathways for its paraprofessionals to earn teacher certification so they can advance in their careers, Mrs. Elman added.

HPS is committed to equity for its 1,300 employees and nearly 5,000 students and their families, who together form a richly diverse community. In addition, the district offers a stable work environment for employees, with new contracts recently ratified for the district’s paraprofessional staff and negotiations coming later this year to determine a new contract with the Holyoke Teachers Association.

“The support programs that Holyoke Public Schools provides first-year teachers are among the most robust in all of Massachusetts,” Mrs. Elman said. “We offer differentiated professional development based on our teachers’ years of experience and support needs, so that teachers receive the support they need to be successful in the classroom.”
