Holyoke Public Schools’ district-wide third-quarter attendance celebration will take place from 5-6 p.m. on Monday, May 1 at Sullivan School. Each school is inviting two students with consistently excellent attendance and two who have made significant progress this quarter to attend, along with their families.
Invited students will receive “Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow” T-shirts and certificates of accomplishments. Refreshments will be served.
Donahue fourth-grader Joelimar Brito and her family will be on hand for the celebration, which will include a public showing of a 30-second video spot featuring Joelimar in recognition of her near-perfect attendance. (She’s missed just a single day of school since kindergarten!)
The video to be shown is part of a series of commercials produced by Stephen Cary of FOCUS Springfield Community Television at the request of Holyoke Public Schools for its “Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow” attendance campaign. The campaign includes a variety of initiatives, activities, and celebrations throughout the school year to promote regular attendance and support for students and families with any challenges.
