On a recent Friday afternoon, a work crew of about 20 people poured more than 350 cubic yards of concrete to form the second story deck of “section B,” or the northern side of the new middle school now under construction at the site of the former Peck School.
Fontaine Bros. is building a single two-story, 107,475-square-foot school to serve 550 middle school students. Contractors have organized the work into three separate wings—identified as sections A, B, and C—all under one unifying roof that together will form the new middle school when construction is completed in fall or winter 2025.
To better understand the architecture and design of the new school, watch the model school video below for an in-depth look at the model school design that is the basis for Holyoke’s new middle school now under construction.
