The Holyoke High School Theater Company is planning four performances of the classic children’s story “Miss Nelson is Missing!” in mid November, with advance tickets now available for purchase.
Three evening performances are planned, with the curtain rising at 6:30 p.m. on November 13, 14, 15 at 6:30 p.m., along with one Saturday matinee beginning at 1 p.m. on November at 16. All performances will be staged in the John F. Sears Auditorium at Holyoke High School North, 500 Beech Street.
In Jeffrey Hatcher’s adaptation of the classic story “Miss Nelson is Missing!” written by Harry Allard, Miss Nelson can't control her crazy classroom because she's just too nice. But when she disappears, her replacement is the hard-as-nails, detention-loving, recess-canceling, homework-overloading substitute teacher Viola Swamp! With the Big Test approaching, the kids suddenly realize how much they miss Miss Nelson and they'll do anything—including hiring a private eye—to solve the mystery of her disappearance and bring her back.
Under the leadership of Theater & Media teacher Bevan Brunelle, the Holyoke High School Theater Company is an after-school club that is an extension of the Performing & Media Arts Academy at Holyoke High School North. The cast and crew of this production includes students in grades 9-12 including: Jasiel Abreu Molina, Darius Baez, Eben Beaudry, Jaslyanna Dasilva, Nevaeh Dasliva, Danaliz Davila, Aidan Fontanez-Courchesne, Talitha Hernandez, Kaylie Lopez, Fynn Maldonado, and Ivan Rivera.
Advance tickets cost $10 for general admission, and $5 for students and staff. Advance tickets are available for purchase at the Holyoke High School Main Office and also online (online fees apply). No exchanges are permitted. Online ticket sales close at 5 p.m. on November 12.
Same-day tickets will be available at each performance for $5 each for students and HPS staff, and $15 for General Admission.
