A student in eighth grade works on an art project

Beginning in January, HPS eighth graders will have opportunities to learn more about Holyoke High School’s North and Dean Tech campuses—including taking tours and speaking with school representatives—as they prepare for an important decision they will soon need to make: Which Holyoke High School campus should they attend in the fall?

North and Dean both offer students a range of high-interest pathways aligned to 21st century education that result in a competitive advantage upon graduation. Both schools:

  • Prepare students for career and college success;

  • Offer applied learning opportunities in the classroom and the community;

  • Provide opportunities for students to earn stackable credentials; and

  • Offer opportunities for advanced coursework (such as dual enrollment) and work-based learning (with co-op learning offered only at Dean).

At HHS North, students select one of three theme-based academies (Performing and Media Arts, Community and Global Studies, or Engineering and Life Science). At Dean Tech, students select one of nine career, vocational and technical education (CVTE) programs.

In January, students will tour the North and Dean campuses to see the facilities, meet faculty and students, and learn about the academic and extracurricular activities available. This will help inform their selection of which campus to attend next fall. Tours are being offered on the following dates:

Tuesday, January 7

  • Dean and North representatives will meet with students at Sullivan

  • Metcalf students will tour Dean Tech

Wednesday, January 8

  • Dean and North representatives will meet with students at Holyoke STEM Academy

  • Dean and North representatives will meet with students at Metcalf

  • Sullivan students will tour Dean Tech

Thursday, January 9

  • Sullivan students will tour HHS North

  • Holyoke STEM Academy students will tour Dean Tech

Friday, January 10

Family members and students are also welcome to attend open houses at both campuses, which will be scheduled and announced soon.

Please note that the Dean Campus requires an application process. All students interested in Dean are encouraged to apply. Families of students interested in applying for admission to Dean can begin the application process here. If you need assistance, please call (413) 534-2071.
