Work crews are continuing their work on the new Peck Middle School throughout the winter months, keeping the project on budget and on schedule to be ready for students and staff at the start of the new school year in August.
“The building is 100 percent weathertight since the roof systems are fully in place,” said Project Manager Petros Davos, “and so far the weather has allowed exterior work to continue as planned this winter.”
Recent construction highlights:
Underground utilities are now fully installed and operational. Reserve propane tanks have also been installed and inspected.
Interior doors have been installed.
Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning mechanicals have been installed on the roof, with rooftop units to be delivered and installed soon.
Exterior brick and stone veneer work is about 95 percent complete.
Exterior windows have been delivered to the construction site and will be tested and installed in the near future.
Concrete for the foundation of the gym and auditorium sections of the new school will be poured later this month.
Interior light-gauge metal framing, insulation, and sheetrock work is well underway, as is the rough-in for HVAC, plumbing, sprinkler electrical, and electrical communication mechanicals.
“While the construction crews continue their work on the structure of the new school, HPS district and school staff have selected furniture for the classrooms and are in the process of selecting equipment to ensure our students and staff have what they need for the first day of school,” said HPS Superintendent Anthony Soto.
