The 31 newly appointed members of the district’s Community Advisory Team will officially begin their work this afternoon, Monday, January 13 during the first of four meetings they have scheduled between now and February 24.
Community Advisory Team members will meet bi-weekly, with sessions scheduled for 4-5:30 p.m. on each of the following days:
Monday, January 27
Monday, February 10
Monday, February 24
The Holyoke School Committee selected the Community Advisory Team members from among a pool of district stakeholders who volunteered for the role to support transition planning as the district prepares for the end of receivership and the return to local control at the start of the 2024-25 school year.
The team will focus its efforts in two areas:
Providing both their own input and facilitating broad-based community input into the School Committee’s superintendent hiring process; and
Providing feedback on action steps developed by the School Committee as they plan and implement their process to evaluate the district’s current Receiver/Superintendent.
Community Advisory Team members will also provide input on an online survey of HPS families, staff, and community members to collect their feedback on district improvement efforts and their desired characteristics for the superintendent who will lead the district after receivership ends and local control is restored. The survey is expected to open on Tuesday, January 21 and run through Tuesday, February 4. Watch for more details about the survey soon.
