Students hold science displays built in shoe boxes

Did you know that baby sea turtles have to find their way out to sea—all by themselves—right after they have hatched? Or that parrots are very social, preferring to live in groups throughout their lives that can span 50 years?

Holyoke School Committee members learned these and many more interesting facts about endangered animals as second-grade students from Lawrence Elementary shared what they learned during school research projects with support from their teacher Falecia Bagg.

Other key facts that students shared include:

  • Foxes are clever, curious animals who can be found around the world.

  • Polar bears live in the arctic and can weigh as much as a car.
