Zone Appeal Process

Students entering HPS in Grades K-8 will be assigned to schools based on the Attendance Zone where they reside. Any student who leaves and re-enters HPS will be assigned to a school based on the attendance zone in which they reside at the time of re-entry.

The boundary map information displayed in the Holyoke Public Schools School Attendance Zone Locator can be used to locate schools and display attendance boundaries. HPS has made substantial efforts to ensure the accuracy of information; however, anomalies in street representation can and do occur. Therefore, before committing to a move or property purchase to attend specific schools, the address should be verified via telephone with a representative of the Enrollment Center at (413) 534-2000. When inquiring, please have a complete address listing ready, including the house number and complete street name.

Attendance boundaries can and do change to accommodate emerging road patterns, the opening or closing of a school, relief of overcrowding in schools, etc. There is no expressed guarantee of the perpetuity of any given boundary.

These maps do not reflect any administrative policies or programs of HPS that could influence student enrollment at a given school (e.g., enrollment caps, special education placement, etc.).

Families that face hardships or challenges in attending their assigned zone school may submit a Zone Appeal application throughout the school year or the summer. The form is available online at https://enrollholyoke.schoolmint.com/. HPS may request additional information to document a family’s challenge or hardship. Families approved for a Zone Appeal are responsible for transporting students to school on time every day. Please know that the assignment to your preferred school outside your zone is not guaranteed. If you change addresses during the school year, you will need to transfer to the school in your new attendance zone and submit proof of residence for your new address. If you are interested in remaining in your old attendance zone school, you will need to fill out a zone appeal application, which can be found at https://enrollholyoke.schoolmint.com/ or by calling the Enrollment Center at (413) 534-2000.
