Holyoke Public Schools offers Summer Learning Academies for HPS elementary and middle school students. Registration is now open and will remain open until programs are filled.

All participating children will be provided breakfast and lunch. Families are encouraged to enroll their children by June 20, 2024 to ensure transportation is set for the first day. Transportation will be provided to students within district transportation guidelines.

Lower Elementary at Kelly School for students who are rising Kindergarten through grade 2 (with Dual Language option)
Upper Elementary at E.N.White School for students who are rising grades 3-5

Dates: Monday through Thursday, 7/8/24 through 8/8/24. 

Time: 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Students in rising grades K to 5 will embark on a fun-filled summer journey. Students will work with teachers to receive support to solve real-world challenges through creative and innovative project-based learning. Student explorations will focus on math and ELA / SLA curriculum in an engaging way. Throughout the day, students will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of enrichment activities as well as fun social-emotional learning activities that will complement academics and enrichment.

Dual language options for Lower and Upper Elementary Academies (for students already enrolled in Dual Language): Students in rising grades K through 5 will have the opportunity to continue their academic path toward bilingualism and biliteracy. Dual language teachers will utilize concrete strategies for teaching beginner Spanish reading to students through lit camps. Students in the Dual Language Academy will also have access to the project-based learning curriculum as they embark on a fun-filled summer journey. They will have the teacher's support to solve real-world challenges. Students will also participate in team-building and social-emotional learning activities.

Generation Teach at Sullivan for students who are rising grades 6-8

Dates: Monday through Friday, 7/8/24 through 8/8/24

Time: 8:15 a.m. - 4 p.m. 

The Generation Teach Academy is a dynamic and engaging 5-week program for rising 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Students will participate in core academics and build relationships with peers from other middle schools working together in small classes with caring teachers. Students take three classes in reading, math, and law, along with daily community meetings, advisory, raffles, and challenges.

Morgan Summer Acceleration for Morgan students who are rising grades K-5

Dates: Monday through Thursday, 7/8/24 through 8/1/24

Time: 8 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Description: The Morgan Summer Acceleration Academy offers a tailored program designed exclusively for Morgan students to help accelerate their learning process. Through a series of carnival-themed activities over four weeks, students will participate in standards-aligned lessons, crafted to address their individual academic requirements along with enrichment activities focused around specific themes. These experiences are strategically structured to reinforce comprehension and mastery of essential concepts and standards, ensuring students are prepared for the upcoming school year.
