The Transitions Academy End of Year Celebration on Friday, June 16 recognized the good work and progress of all participating students—including the five students who completed the program and earned their high school diplomas this year:

Ari Birks was also recognized during the program for graduating from UMass Amherst through the Massachusetts Inclusive Concurrent Enrollment Initiative (MAICEI program).

Holyoke’s Transitions Academy is designed to prepare students ages 18-22 with disabilities for their change in status from a student to an emergent adult role. The program focuses on employment, post-secondary education (including functional academics, college, and career training), maintaining a home, community involvement, and enhancing social and personal relationships.
