The sounds of popcorn popping, students laughing, and the 1960s-era rocking tune “Monster Mash” could be heard from Open Square Way last week while the Transitions Fall Fair was underway.
Students and staff celebrated the season in style with a carnival-themed block party. Activity stations for pumpkin decorating, tie-dying, and cookie frosting provided students with options to get creative, while cornhole and a donut-on-a-string contest sparked friendly competition. A trunk-or-treat took place following the event, allowing students to show off their costumes.
The fair wasn’t limited to currented Transitions students—juniors and seniors from HHS North’s RISE program also attended the event. These students may be enrolling in Transitions Academy after high school, so the fair provided an opportunity for prospective students to get to know the program and staff.
“It’s great for the incoming class to meet everyone,” said Transitions Academy director Corrine Moguel. “Today is all about celebrating together.” Ms. Moguel also expressed her thanks to Gary Rome, whose car dealerships donated the pumpkins that students decorated and took home.
