The Holyoke Public Schools community was saddened to learn of the passing of Beverly A. Moriarty on November 11, 2024 at the age of 87. Ms. Moriarty was a long-time educator in Holyoke, starting her career as an ELA teacher in the district and later becoming the HPS Title I director.
She was born and raised in Worcester, MA and earned her bachelor’s degree in education at Westfield State College. She was a resident of South Hadley who began her HPS teaching career after her children started school. She returned to Westfield State to earn her master’s degree before becoming Title 1 director, a role in which she managed one of the largest Title 1 programs in the commonwealth.
Visiting hours are set for 9-10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 15 at the O’Brien Family Funeral Home, 33 Lamb Street, South Hadley. A liturgy will follow at St. Patrick’s Church at 11 a.m. followed by a burial at St. Rose Cemetery.
