College-bound students who will be seeking financial aid can now begin working on their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. Submitting this form is required for students to be eligible for federal student aid such as federal grants, work-study funds, and loans. Most states, colleges, and universities also use the FAFSA form to determine financial aid eligibility, as do many private scholarship and financial aid providers.
As an incentive for students to complete their FAFSA forms as early as possible, Holyoke High School’s North and Dean campuses and Opportunity Academy are offering $30 Barnes & Noble gift cards for students who submit their forms, while supplies last.
Massachusetts’ deadline to complete and submit the form is May 1, 2025, but many colleges and universities may have earlier deadlines. Prospective college students are urged to check financial aid deadlines for the colleges and universities they are considering attending.
Some colleges also require students to complete the CSS/Profile to receive institutional financial aid. If required, be sure to complete this form.
Students who cannot complete a FAFSA form due to their immigration status may be able to complete the Massachusetts Application for State Financial Aid (MASFA) for MA state financial aid. Students who do not have permanent residency in the United States are encouraged to speak with their school counselor about MASFA or other financial aid options.
